Block Paved Driveways

Block paving is essentially brick paving made from concrete or clay. It’s favoured for driveways due its attractive appearance, versatile design options, and for being easy to maintain. It’s perfect for home driveways and can even add value to your property.

We’ve been block paved driveway contractors since 1990. Operating in the Peterborough area, we take pride in delivering high-quality driveways that our customers are 100% happy with. Our experienced team will ensure minimal disruption and leave your property clean and smart.

Whether you’re looking for a block paved driveway for a domestic property or for a large-scale commercial building, Cambridgeshire Driveways can install driveways for properties with a range of colours, patterns and drainage to suit any project

Why Choose Block Paving for Your Driveway?

A well-kept driveway can last many years before it needs replacing – all of our work is guaranteed for 10 years.
With many different colours, patterns and types of block paving, we can tailor design your driveway to how you want it.
A block paved driveway will allow water to pass through then enter back into the groundwater, which is much more sustainable, eco-friendly and manageable than other surfaces.

Block Paving Process

From initial customer enquiry to finished result, we make it as easy as possible to get a beautiful block paving driveway in Cambridgeshire. We follow a high-quality procedure which is listed below:

Site Survey

A site survey will take place before we start work. This is an opportunity for the customer to ask any questions they may have about the installation.

Work Begins

To begin, we excavate the area to a 200-250mm depth (depending on ground conditions) and take away the excavated materials on our lorries. We then apply a layer of hardcore to create a strong and sturdy sub-base for the block paving. This is then flattened and compacted with one of our rollers, allowing the customer to park on the driveway overnight. We then deliver the sharp sand which is then screeded into a 50mm base for the block paving. We then lay the main area of block paving in the chosen design and chosen colours.

Finishing Touches

Any drainage which is necessary is then applied. This can include manholes, aco channels and gullies which are needed for good surface water drainage. We then lay the border in the chosen design and colours while cutting in any gaps in the block paving.

If the blocks are laid next to an area which doesn’t support the block paving such as soil or grass, we then haunch the block paving onto concrete to keep it from moving. The gaps between the block paving are then filled with kiln dry sand to finish. The area is then tidied and once the concrete is set, it’s ready to use.
