The Customers Needs

The customer wanted to create an area of parking for the tenants at the rear of property by firstly knocking down the garden walls and clearing the area to allow access from the rear of the flats, and then by replacing the grass and muck area around the back of the houses with an easily maintainable gravel surface which would enable ample parking and replacing the entranceway to the road which was also previously muck & grass with the same gravel surface to allow improved access to the parking area.

Knocking Down The Walls & Clearing The Area

The first part of the project involved us knocking down & clearing the garden walls to allow tenant access from the back of their house to the gravel driveway. We then needed to clear the area of all the old household rubbish and cut back and tidy the overgrown shrubbery so that we could allow our 4 ton Hitachi mini digger and both of our Iveco 18 ton lorries access to the site to allow the excavation process to begin.
We used a number of our own skips to cart the rubbish away, these lift onto the back of our two 7.5 ton roll on roll off skip lorries, we also used our two 18 ton lorries to cart away any surplus rubbish.

Excavating & Gravelling Car Parking Area

Once the walls were knocked down and the area was cleared, we then excavated the large car parking area using our 4 ton Hitachi mini digger and transported the materials away using our two 18 ton lorries. We then installed a membrane for reduced weed growth and on top of that installed a good quality, long lasting sub-base using our own crushed hardcore, then we flattened the sub-based area using a 1 ton roller and spread a 70mm depth layer of gravel throughout to finish.

Excavating & Gravelling Entranceway

Once we excavated & gravelled the main car parking area, we then excavated the entranceway from the road to the car park with our 4 ton Hitachi mini digger and carted the materials away using our two 18 ton lorries. We then installed a membrane for reduced weed growth and on top of that installed a good quality, long lasting sub-base using our own crushed hardcore, we then flattened the sub-based area using a 1 ton roller and spread a 70mm depth layer of gravel throughout to finish.

Installing Blocked Border Between Garden & Gravel

Once the area was excavated and gravelled we then installed a row of charcoal blocks on the edge of the gardens to create separation between the two areas and also to allow a safe & easy transition from garden to gravel.
