Entrance & Double Driveway Project In Deeping St James, Lincolnshire

Project Information

This 340m2 project in Deeping St James, Lincolnshire was completed on the 13th October 2020 and took us approximately 7 days to complete. It involved us excavating, sub-basing & block paving a gravel entrance and double gravel driveway, while also removing the old edgings and providing surface water drainage where necessary.

Customers Needs

The customers wanted to update the gravel entranceway and both gravel driveways with an overall tidier and better-looking block paving product which would be much easier to drive on and would be more fitting of the properties. Also, with the design of block paving used it gives the customers visual separation from the shared entranceway and the private driveways, and also by removing the edgings and putting topsoil it would merge in nicely with the plants and shrubbery on the property.

Installing Entranceway

The first part of the installation involved excavating the gravel entranceway area to a suitable depth, we then provided a good quality, long lasting hardcore sub-base which was flattened by our 1-ton roller ready for blocking. We then screeded a 50mm layer of sharpe sand on top of the sub-base and laid the blocks in a 45-degree herringbone design to differentiate from the block design on the driveways, using brindle as the main colour and charcoal as the border colour while also installing two recessed manholes and taking out the old edgings for a tidier finish with topsoil.

Installing 1st Driveway

The second part of the installation involved us excavating the first gravel driveway area to a suitable depth, we then provided a good quality, long lasting hardcore sub-base which was flattened by our 1-ton roller ready for blocking. We then screeded a 50mm layer of sharpe sand on top of the sub-base and laid the blocks in a 90-degree herringbone design, using brindle as the main colour and charcoal as the border colour while also taking out the old edgings for a tidier finish with topsoil.

Installing 2nd Driveway

The third part of the installation involved us excavating the second gravel driveway area to a suitable depth, we then provided a good quality, long lasting hardcore sub-base which was flatted by our 1-ton roller ready for blocking. We then screeded a 50mm layer of sharpe sand on top of the sub-base and laid the blocks in a 90-degree herringbone design, using brindle as the main colour and charcoal as the border colour while also taking out the old edgings for a tidier finish with topsoil. We also block paved the car port area on the left hand side of the driveway.

The Finished Product

The customers are now left with an entranceway and double driveway which is not only much easier to drive on, but is also tidier and much more modern looking and therefore more fitting of the properties.
All this while being backed up by our 10-year guarantee which will last until October 2030.
