The Customers Needs
The customers wanted to replace the existing cracked tarmac surface and create a much better looking block paved driveway and patio area. They wanted an improved area to park the cars as well as an enhanced entrance to the rear of a property past the gates.
Surface Water Drainage
There was a slight fall going towards the house on the garage side and the front door side which meant there was a strong likelihood of water sitting near the house. To make sure water would not sit at the house we installed 11 metres of aco channels in front of the garage and to the right of the front door which water could run into.
Fixing Existing Drainage Issues
A large part of the project involved us sorting out the existing drainage issues and making sure surface water didn’t puddle in the driveway/patio as it did previously.
To do this we installed aco channels across the front of the house, gate entrance & to the rear of the patio to direct the water into a large soakaway which would allow surface water to percolate back into the earth close to where it falls.
Block Colour & Design
To block pave the area we used ochre as the main colour in a 90 degree herringbone design throughout within a charcoal treble border as it was an expansive area of paving.
Side Pathway & Patio Area
As well as improving the front driveway, the customers also wanted the same effect for the side entrance & the patio area, so we block paved that area in the same colours as the driveway. This gives the customers easier access to the rear of their property, while maintaining the gate access.
The Finished Product
The result is a driveway & patio installation which gives the front & rear of the property a more pleasing look whilst making sure there are no longer any surface water issues in the driveway and patio.
