Project Information & Customer Needs
This 300m2 gravel driveway installation in Upwell, Cambridgeshire was completed on the 3rd March 2022 and involved us removing the front wall, excavating & gravelling a driveway and block paving a small area in front of the porch door, taking us approximately 3 days to complete.
The customer wanted to replace the old gravel driveway & grass area outside the front of the porch with a newer, better looking gravel surface, while also removing the wall and the bushes at the front of the property to free up and create easier access to the driveway while leaving the customer with less maintenance.
Removing The Front Wall & Shrubbery
The first part of the installation involved us removing the wall and the shrubbery at the front of the property, we removed the wall with our 4 ton mini digger and transported the materials away using our 18 ton Iveco lorry, creating a larger entrance to the driveway also meant we could work quicker and keep our 18 ton lorry off the road.
The customer has now been left with improved access to the gravel driveway as well as less maintenance.
Excavating & Gravelling The Driveway
We firstly excavated the old gravel area to a suitable depth, applied a layer of membrane and sub-based the area with our own crushed hardcore to give a long lasting, sturdy base which was then flattened by a 1 ton roller, and then spread 20mm gravel evenly throughout the area.
Excavating & Gravelling The Porch Entrance
We then excavated the grass area in front of the porch to a suitable depth, applied a layer of membrane and sub-based the area with our own crushed hardcore to give a long lasting, sturdy base which was then flattened by a 1 ton roller, and then then spread 20mm gravel evenly throughout the area.
Block Paved Area At Front Door
As part of the installation the customer wanted a small block paved area outside of the porch door for easier access as well as an area to put 2 plant pots, we installed this using charcoal block paving after gravelling the rest of the area.
The Finished Product
The customer has now been left with a new and improved gravel driveway with a long lasting sub-base, while also freeing up the front of the property for a future fence installation.
All this while being backed up by our 10-year guarantee which will last until March 2032.
