In & Out Driveway & Roadway Project In Orton Longueville, Peterborough

Project Information

This project in Orton Longueville, Peterborough involved us block paving a 672m2 area comprising of 2 large driveways, a roadway for access between both driveways and to the front of the house and an area around the left hand side and rear of the house. It was completed on the 25th July 2019 and took us approximately 12 days to complete.

The Customers Needs

The customers wanted to tidy up the area all around the house by replacing the large tarmac driveway area and the large hardcore/soil driveway area with a much better looking block paving product. They also wanted to replace the tarmac pathway and part of the grass area to widen the area to 3 metres to give them a block paved roadway/pathway across the front of the house which would go from one driveway to the other to create an in and out driveway. The customers also wanted tidy up the small area down the side and to the rear of the house by replacing the tarmac area with block paving.

Using Thicker 80mm Blocks

Before we started the block paving both we and the customer thought it would be a good idea to use slightly thicker 80mm blocks which can handle more weight over time than the standard 50/60mm blocks as they are more suited to commercial use, this means that the customer can allow HGV vehicles onto the property if necessary and they can rest assured that the blocks will stand the test of time.
We guarantee all our work for 10 years as standard.

Part 1: Side & Rear Of Property

The first part of the project involved us block paving around the side and rear of the property up to and around the bricked area in front of the garage, for this we used the same brindle main colour with a charcoal border in a 90 degree herringbone design, while also installing 1 recessed manhole. We then continued the block paving through the next phase of the project…

Part 2: First Driveway Area

We then block paved the first driveway area to the left of the property in a 90 degree herringbone design, using brindle as the main colour and charcoal as the border colour, while also installing 5 recessed manholes. We also removed the hump of topsoil in front of the property entrance and block paved up to the existing concreate area so the customers could have easier access to the property. We also widened the entrance to the driveway from the road by removing part of the wall on either side to give vehicles more room to get in/out of the property and installed heavy duty aco channels on the entrance to the driveway.

Part 3: Roadway Linking Both Driveway Areas

The customers wanted to create an area between both driveways so they could enter/exit either side of the property, for this we created a 3 metre approx. wide area of block paving on what was previously a tarmac footpath and unused grass area, this also gave the customers better access to the main front door of the house. We also took the block paving through the trees so it would link to the 2nd driveway area we block paved.

Part 4: Second Driveway Area

We then block paved the second driveway area to the right hand side of the property in the same 90 degree herringbone design, using brindle as the main colour and charcoal as the border colour, while also curving the end of the roadway into that area and in between and around the trees on the left hand side. To give the area a tidy finish we also topsoiled what was previously a grass area on the right hand side underneath the trees.

Pathway Around Trees

As part of the project we also block paved a small pathway going around the trees to the steps to the side door, for this we used the same brindle main colour with a charcoal border and carried on the 90 degree herringbone design from the linked roadway and 2nd driveway/entranceway.

The Finished Product

The finished product is an updated, much better looking tidy area around the house, with 2 improved large driveway/entrance areas and a roadway area between the 2 driveways linking them together, giving the customers a more accessible in and out driveway as well as better accessibility to the property itself.

All this while being backed up by our 10-year guarantee which will last until July 2029.
