This project in Longthorpe, Peterborough was completed on the 5th December 2017, combined excavation and blocking of this project took us 6 days. The total size of this project was 275m2, the driveway being 232m2 and the path going around the back of the house and to the patio area being 43m2.
The Customers’ Needs
The customers wanted to replace the existing gravel driveway and old block paved footpaths with an all in one new block paved installation to match the other properties in the area. To achieve this we block paved the area in an ochre/bracken mix with a charcoal treble border, using a 90 degree herringbone design on both the driveway & pathway.
Making The Front Slope Shallower
One of the ways block paving improved this driveway was by allowing the slope at the front of the driveway to be easier to drive on and off. We achieved this by modifying a slightly shallower slope upon excavation which meant there would be a manageable level from the front of the driveway to the rest of the property.
Improving The Rear Footpath
As well as the driveway a large part of the project was improving the 43 metre long rear footpath going around the house which was block paved in the same colour as the driveway itself. By doing this it created easier access around the house from the front of the property to the patio and back garden.
The Finished Product
The result is an elegant block paved driveway & rear footpath which not only looks much more aesthetically pleasing but is much easier to drive on.
