Driveway & Pathway Installation in Thorney, Cambridgeshire

Project Information

This 205m2 project in Thorney, Cambridgeshire involved us block paving a large driveway, a 13m2 pathway at the front of the property and a 11m2 pathway at the rear of the property with a 16.5m2 entrance area. It was completed on 6th May 2019 and took us approximately 5 days to complete.

The Customers Needs

The customers wanted to replace the large gravel driveway with a much tidier and better block paving product which would be easier to drive on and they also wanted to replace the slab pathway at the front of the house with the same block paving product for improved access. The customers also wanted to create a cleaner entrance from the gates to the rear patio, to do this they wanted a second pathway through the area of soil in the same colour block paving.

Front Pathway Block Design/Colour

As part of the project we also installed a block paved area outside the front door in a 90-degree herringbone design and then a pathway going from that area to the front gate in a stretcher bond design, using the same charcoal main colour and grey single border colour as the rest of the installation.

Driveway Block Design/Colour

We block paved the driveway in a 90 degree herringbone design using charcoal as the main colour and grey as the treble border colour, we used a treble border on the driveway as it was such a large area while joining the block paved to the front door pathway and to the back gates. As part of the project we also used thicker 80mm blocks as the driveway was just off a main road and would be parking larger vehicles, these blocks can hold more weight than standard 60mm blocks.
At the customer’s request we also included a small pattern at the bottom of the driveway.

Rear Pathway Block Design/Colour

We also installed a block paved area outside the rear gate in a 90 degree herringbone design which then connected to a pathway going to the rear patio in a stretcher bond design, using the same charcoal main colour and grey single border as the driveway. While also giving them cleaner access to the rear of the property it also gave them an entrance area from the gates and an area to allow them to load things in and out of the container.

Surface Water Drainage

To give the customers good surface water drainage on the driveway we set up the levels so water would be directed into the large storm drain at bottom right hand side of the driveway, and we also supplied a granite border around the driveway for surface water to run into.

The Finished Product

The finished product is much tidier block paved driveway which is much easier to drive on and off, and 2 pathways providing improved access to the front door and from the back gates to the rear patio.
As with all our work, this project is also backed up by our 10-year guarantee. which will last until May 2029.
